Thanksgiving Ranch Activities - Hiking

Hiking

Enjoy a walk or hike on the Ranch, whether on-trail or off the beaten path.

For those seeking a more rigorous adventure, we work with a local guiding company that brings expert knowledge and offers fascinating stories along the way to enhance your experience. They aim to give visitors the chance to contribute positively to the places they explore.

“Hear the Call!”

During the summer grazing period, we regularly move our cattle based on various factors, grass quality, weather conditions, the cattle’s appetite, and the time of the growing season.

Because of these factors, the moves are often determined less than a day in advance. On a very limited basis, we can take a couple of lodge guests out to witness our herd of 1,500 cattle responding to the cattle manager as they move to new paddocks. It’s a truly unique experience—one you’ll never forget.

Golfing

Golf in the mountains is different. There is nothing quite like watching your ball soar against a mountain background. The ball goes further. The weather can change abruptly and challenge you. The backdrops will amaze.

Several courses are nearby The Lodge at Thanksgiving Ranch and arrangements can be made most days.

How many species can you spot?

With your eyes peeled, you may catch sight of eagles, hawks, falcons, hummingbirds, bears, elk, deer, moose, and many others that roam the property. While some species are more commonly seen, others are rarer but still make their presence known.

Remember, these are wild animals, and it’s important to show them respect. They can be unpredictable and may pose a danger if approached. Keep a safe distance, and enjoy observing them from afar.
