The Lodge's outdoor spaces provide comfortable spots to breathe in the fresh mountain air and relax at your own pace. From sunrise to sunset, and beneath the dark, star-filled skies at night, the ever-changing, stunning views are a spectacle to absorb. Our beautiful indoor pool and sauna, housed in its own log building with hand laid local rock walls, is a private pool accessible to friends and family only.

Enjoy a walk or hike on the Ranch, either on or off-trail.

“Hear the Call!”
During the summer grazing period, we regularly move our cattle based on various factors, grass quality, weather conditions, the cattle’s appetite, and the time of the growing season.
Because of these factors, the moves are often determined less than a day in advance. On a very limited basis, we can take a couple of lodge guests out to witness our herd of 1,500 cattle responding to the cattle manager as they move to new paddocks. It’s a truly unique experience—one you’ll never forget.
Golfing
Golf in the mountains is different. The ball goes further. The weather can change abruptly and challenge. But there is nothing quite like watching your ball soar against a mountain background.
Several courses are nearby and arrangements can be made most days.

Biking
We have trails, roads, and paths. Bring your own bike, or we can arrange bike rentals during your stay. You could also go off the ranch, to the nearby parks, and find your own adventure. We can let you know where to go.

How many species can you spot?
If you keep your eyes peeled, eagles, hawks, falcons, hummingbirds, bears, elk, deer, moose, and others are fairly common. Some species may be more difficult to spot rarely seen, but they are around.

A reasonable drive will get you to our local ski hill, Castle Mountain Resort for some of the best dry powder snow and challenging terrain in North America. These elements will provide an experience of a lifetime.
Outdoor Skating Pond
What could be more Canadian than going for a skate just steps away from The Lodge? Obviously, the weather doesn’t always cooperate, but have you ever seen a more beautiful view?
Winter Hiking & Snowshoeing
Registered guests are welcome to explore our marked trails on foot or snowshoe.
Bring your own equipment and head off into the unknown and create your own adventure.
Cross Country Skiing
Attached wood planks to your feet, allowing you to travel fast on the snow covered ground through the amazing landscapes of Southern Alberta.
Cross country skiing is available at many locations near Thanksgiving Ranch.
Fat Biking
Registered guests are welcome to explore marked trails on fat bikes. We can arrange rentals or you can bring your trusted ride and see where the trails take you.
